International Youth Day is a United Nations’ day celebrated on August 12th each year; its purpose is to recognize efforts of the world’s youth in enhancing global society. It aims to promote ways to engage them in becoming more actively involved in making positive contributions to their communities.
This important objective is typified by the Global Youth Leaders’ Forum (GYLF), which is led by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, and is an outreach of Christ Embassy that focuses on building young people and imparting in them a passion to make a difference in the world. So for the 2016 International Youth Day, members of the GYLF all over the world, did something very special for the Gospel in order to commemorate the day. So Pastor Oyakhilome sent his youth leaders off to the great nation of Nepal…
In Nepal, the youths of the GYLF took out time specially to fast and pray for a week leading up to the Day. At the scheduled prayer meetings, the youths particularly interceded for youths in Nepal, as well as all other nations of the world. They prayed for the hearts of young people, that the truth of the message of Christ might come alive in them, and also that young men and women around would be emboldened by the Spirit of the Lord to stand up for Jesus in their generation.
The fast climaxed with a passionate prayer and praise rally, during which the youths celebrated the triumph of the Word over the forces of darkness, and the prevalence of the Gospel in the earth.
The sense of community and of fellowship was strong, and words of prophecy came forth, with the youths declaring that youths all around the world will come to the full knowledge of the Gospel of Christ. It was a glorious time of fellowship with the Holy Ghost, and the youths left the meeting with a note of victory in their spirits, more determined than ever to make a mark in their generation by leading other young people to the light of God’s Word.
